Steven East, CEO of Caring People, has been on mission to provide the highest level of care possible to those who need it most for over 20 years. Steven is a pioneer in his field, building one of the largest private duty home care companies in the country with locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, and Texas. Always forging forward and being willing to think outside of the box, Steven encourages teams to create, implement, and own their ideas and projects, fostering a creative and innovative environment. “The strongest asset we have at Caring People, and the reason for our success, has always been the incredible members of our team – caregivers, backend support, outreach and administrative – across all of our branches.” With a strong emphasis on the client and team member experience, as well as embracing technical innovation, Caring People has propelled to the forefront of the industry.
"Our aim was to create a service that we felt comfortable using within our own families – and we did just that"
Caring People was originally founded by Steven’s grandmother, Hannah Shulman, as a nanny/house-keeping business at Ms. Shulman’s kitchen table in Flushing, New York. As Steven, his grandmother, and their team gained reputability with clients, and throughout the community, Caring People started receiving requests to provide care for seniors. With a true desire to support these needs, Caring People began shifting their focus towards navigating the process of providing in-home care for client’s loved ones. Ms. Shulman would always say: “We treat our clients like family; how would you want your parents to be treated?” She lived by this golden rule, and she was committed to making sure that the private senior home care services provided by Caring People would always meet the highest standards possible.
COVID-19 has ushered in a revolutionary set of changes for the global healthcare industry. Steven is ensuring that Caring People is taking the utmost care in the health, safety, and education of their clients and caregivers. With some of the most advanced and industry leading healthcare processes, protocols, and knowledge, they are continuing to vigilantly monitor the COVID-19 virus, while mitigating every possible health and safety risk for their clients, employees, and community. “As older adults and seniors are particularly vulnerable and have increased risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus, our caregivers and staff have been given extra precautionary guidelines for their interactions with our clients,” he says. “Our staff and caregivers have been trained to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to clients and the community; Caring People continues to provide updated healthcare protocols and trainings on an ongoing basis.”
In our modern healthcare landscape, clients are looking for industry leading care that is personalized to their needs, easy to request, and accessible whenever they need it – Steven knew there wasn’t a solution in the in the market to meet these needs, that’s why he created the CaringOnDemand, “COD”, application, utilized by Caring People and many senior communities across the country. COD is a proprietary technology that lets seniors and family members request customized care with the touch of a button. Avoiding costly minimums, COD allows a client to pay for care by the minute and receive the appropriate care the client needs. The app provides oversight, tracking, and health updates for family members about their loved ones. As many families live far away from each other, the COD app provides peace of mind and comfort in knowing their family members are receiving the care they need, when they need it. With a fresh approach to home care that is revolutionizing the traditional model, COD saves clients an average of 60% on home care costs, has a 95% client satisfaction rating, and is endorsed by 98% of caregivers who’ve used the program.
Caring People’s clients are consistently highly satisfied by their services, “integrating more ancillary services, such as telephonic physician appointments and other virtual connections to resources, is a big initiative of ours. All the data points to the market’s wish to age in the familiarity of their home. It is up to us, as the provider, to make that a reality. Collaborating with other like-minded healthcare professionals allows us to make this a real possibility.” As Caring People plans for national expansion, their core values always come back to providing quality, compassion, and trust to every client and every family.
