 IT Critical Success Factors

Tippu Gagguturu, CIO, Allconnect

IT leaders want to run the IT organization to be a business-focused, cost-effective and well-run IT operation. The IT team must be recognized for its responsiveness, flexibility, and the effectiveness of the products and solutions by creating value to business and customers through technology solutions and innovation. To achieve such, there is a systematic way to structure the IT organization towards the product focused agile development team, continuous delivery and DevOps team with scalable system architecture to support business goals.Based on my experience, the following are equally important success factors for IT organization.Focus: IT must be focused on business outcomes first and foremost and technology secondarily. The former defines the ends, and the latter is simply the means. The focus needs to be evaluated continuously towards the solution for the business objective rather than the technological objectives.People: IT must have the right people in the right roles at the right time with the right attitude by identifying people in the organization and empower them to do their best work in a collaboration environment with continuous objective evaluation and skills improvement in all levels of the organization to create leaders and succession plan.Action: IT must take actions with deep understanding of the problem with full attention towards the continuous progress of the business goal with unbiased, no fixed opinion, and no emotional attachment to the outcome and to encourage high potential of people.Learning: IT must continuously learn and improve the IT by fostering innovation and eliminating the bottlenecks to streamline the IT delivery and operations stability to meet and exceed the business goal.Finance: IT must understand the financials and be transparent in its operation with the rest of the organization using collaborative financial plan on resources, project execution and operations.6.Global in minutes - Easily deploy your application in multiple regions around the world with just a few clicks.
