“Providing Support to Anyone, Anywhere”

When it comes to IT, the single greatest challenge is the constant movement of the industry. Recommendations made even six months ago can often be inadequate in the face of new technologies and new opportunities. Total Support Solutions addresses these concerns by providing a holistic, customized approach for each client designed to be tailored to their needs. “From our On Demand solution to our HelpDesk solution to our Staff+ solutions we can provide technical support at whatever level is needed for however long is needed. That means our company is perfectly designed to right size and grow with you,” says Chris Gillen, CEO of Total Support Solutions, who has shepherded Total Support from a small on-demand operation into one of BC’s top IT firms. “We see our unique approach to hiring and employment as a significant market differentiator.”

As trainers, Total Support brings that training mentality to their engagement with clients. “So often IT companies try to obfuscate and overcomplicate what we do. We do not believe that works or is healthy,” adds Gillen. “What we want is informed and engaged clients who have all the tools provided to inform their decision making.” This training is designed to allow the businesses they serve the expertise to make IT-related decisions effectively. “We work best not as contractors or merely a service provider, but as advocates and partners.”

“Right now, we focus on B.C., but we are equipped to provide support to anyone, anywhere.”

Gillen talks about a small community, remote, largely cut off from the rest of Canada, and how his team assisted in bringing broadband to these communities to offer a Metropolitan level of support with employment opportunities with their organization. “How does that work? Our distribute network means we can provide remote support to pretty much anyone anywhere, but that is just the beginning,” he explains. “With our training solutions and our some of our other programs, including deploying remote community support technicians, we can provide onsite support within communities as well.” He adds, “It is one thing to hire an outsourced MSP, it is a completely different experience to have someone in your community, participating in local life, who happens to work for the MSP that services your area.”

As per Gillen, the threats are real and getting worse, and the company’s powerful and advanced anti-virus solutions protect customer computers from a wide range of risks and threats. “With the complex and international nature of law enforcement around this issue it is rare that we can rely on the legal system to protect us from criminals. It is our duty to protect our clients with a multilayered defense.” Firstly, they provide enterprise-level anti-virus that is designed to integrate into the management system. “When a problem is detected our system automatically springs into action to isolate infected machines from the network, mitigating the spread, and start the repair process,” explains Gillen. “From there our audit team springs into action. How did the virus penetrate? Is this a new threat, or a variant on old one? Within hours we can not only roll out new defenses to the affected client, but every client we support.” This level of analysis exists not only at the PC level but at the router and switch and Wi-Fi level as well, ensuring that almost every single virus is captured long before it reaches a client machine.

“If a company that can right size to your needs, has a proven track record, fosters and employs industry leading talent, and is focused on providing you the training and tools to take charge of your IT, is someone you are interested in talking with, we are interested in talking with you,” says Gillen. “We are a robust and healthy company that is expected to grow at a prodigious rate over the next 5 years. In many ways Victoria and the lower mainland have been our proving grounds, our beta test if you will.” The steadfast leader is confident that his processes, solutions, and outcomes are primed to make them an industry leader. “Right now, we focus on B.C., but we are equipped to provide support to anyone, anywhere.” IE
